Want to get involved in creating positive change in Ottawa?
BSKC has many exciting initiatives underway in 2023 to transform South Keys Centre into a vibrant 15-minute community, and we need volunteers to help us get it done!
Our technical committee is looking for people to fill lead or support roles for the following projects:
– Greenboro Park-and-Ride Affordable Housing: help us advocate for the redevelopment of the Park & Ride to include much-needed housing next to the Greenboro O-Train station
– South Keys Transit Plaza: help us advocate for the first public space in this redevelopment which will include connected space from the transit station and the road and a public park
– Ottawa Transportation Master Plan Update: help us track and advocate for walking, cycling, transit, and roadway projects that improve connectivity to South Keys Centre as the City updates this vital plan
– Hunt Club Widening at Bank Street: help us advocate for holistic improvements to this intersection as part of an upcoming City project
There are lots of opportunities to learn and no past experience is required. The commitment is a few hours each month, including attending our monthly executive meetings. Interested or have questions? Let us know!
If these ones aren’t quite in your ballpark or skillset interest, we also have Outreach and Communications committees that could use volunteer help – or send us your ideas!
Interested in participating but unsure as to exact role
Sure Karyn! If you want to send us an email (info@bettersouthkeys.ca) we can discuss, or maybe you’d like to attend our next monthly virtual meeting on May 25 to learn more about the group etc.
